Everything you read these days talks about “value-added” something or another. When applied to the
worker, it defines worth, importance and appreciation. Albert Einstein once said, “Try not to become a man of success but rather to become a man of value.” Becoming a worker of value guarantees that the results of your efforts will be of mutual satisfaction and benefit–to the company and to you. This requires focus and determination.
Encouragement can have a very powerful effect on bosses and co-workers. The literal meaning of the word, encourage, is to put heart into. When this definition is applied to work situations, it suggests:
One of the most frightening things a person can experience in life is to be out of control. It is part of our nature to take charge, direct and have power over things, situations and people.
